No fewer than 28 people have been killed by the group of suspected cattle rustlers at Mashema village in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state last Monday.
According to eye witness, Mallam Lawali Mashema, who narrated how the incident occurred to newsmen in a telephone call said, the bandits numbering over 100 invaded the village in the midnight with dangerous weapons and killed over 28 people, wounded one person instantly.
Mallam Lawali Mashema said the bandits made away with their cows worth millions of Naira during the attack.
A member representing Maru- Bungudu Federal Constituency Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu said already, those who died have been laid to rest according to Islamic injunctions.
It could be recalled that Zamfara state was facing series of attacks from the cattle rustlers since 2011.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Dsp. Sanusi Amiru confirmed the incident, saying officers and men of the command have been deployed to the scene of the incident and that normalcy had already been restored in the area.
