Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Taraba Council, yesterday supported the call for the establishment of cattle ranches across the country.
This was contained in a communiqué issued by the Chairman of the council, Mr. Solomon Ajiduku, at the end of its congress meeting in Jalingo.
The union decried the frequent clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers across the country.
It said the establishment of cattle ranches all over the country would curtail the activities of herdsmen, which it said, often lead to crisis between them and farmers.
“Government at all levels should provide adequate logistics to enable security agents tackle decisively the problem of cattle rustling, kidnapping and insurgency,” he said.
The union commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption and charged Nigerians to support the effort.
It urged state governors to ensure the provision of infrastructure across the country, especially fixing of bad roads, many of which have become death traps. NAN
