Head of Civil Service of the Federation, HoS, has suspended the verification exercise for Directorate level officers in the Federal Public Service.
According to a press statement signed by Assistant Director Media Relations, Office of Head of Civil Service of Federation, Mr. Mohammed Manga, a new date will be fixed for the exercise.
The statement said its decision to suspend was based on the need for thoroughness and the scope involved.
Also, the exercise is aimed at producing accurate bio-data of this level of officers for informed leadership and succession planning in the Federal Public Service.
The first phase of the exercise, according to Mr. Manga, will be limited to officers in the core Federal Civil Service, those working with ministries, while the second phase will involve officers in parastatals and other government establishments.
Meanwhile, public servants have been advised to embark on regular medical check up of their health in order to work efficiently and deliver up to expectation.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo- Ita, made the call in Abuja when she declared open a five-day free medical check-up for federal civil servants in the country.
She said the sudden collapse and death of some workers either on their way to or from their respective offices or during office hours could be attributed to lack of proper medical check-ups to determine their health status.
She advised workers to always create time out of their busy schedule to ensure that they have a thorough medical check-up. Recently, there have been a lot of reported cases of hypertension among the adult population and other related contagious diseases that can be devastating if not detectd on time for possible and proper medical attention.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita charged workers to seize the opportunity of the five days free medical check -up to ensure that they know their health status.
