Coalition of Northern Youth Associations, CNYA, has called on members of the House of Representatives and indeed the All Progressives Congress, APC, to support the nomination of Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa for the post of majority leader of the eighth lower chamber of the National Assembly.
The associations in a statement by the national coordinator, Abubakar Muhammed, said Doguwa is a fourth term lawmaker with cognitive experience in the House of Representatives, having chaired sensitive committees and made impressive marks as the Chairman of the he Millennium Development Goals, MDGs Committee.
They said Doguwa, who has been a staunch supporter of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the APC anointed candidate for the office of the Speaker, was the first member that led a caucus to pay solidarity visit to Hon. Yakubu Dogara after his election as the Speaker.
“We believe in the capacity of Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa who represents Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency of Kano State, is surely the best man for the job and we vouch that he can deliver and support Speaker Dogara to legislate for good governance and democracy.
“We want to reiterate that his political background coupled with his vast legislative experience and intellectual pedigree stands him out over many old and new members from the North West geo political zone.
“His track record in the House is legendary as such we strongly believe that his leading the majority party in the House would ensure the change agenda of the present government would yield dividend”, the statement stressed.
The groups recalled that Doguwa played major roles in enthroning previous leadership in the House, adding with his experience and as Chairman of MDGs Committee aptly qualify him to lead the party members in the House.
