After two years without a goal in the green-white-green colours of Nigeria, Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike looks set to be axed from next month’s World Cup qualifier against Swaziland.
According to a report on Africanfootball.com, the 28-year-old has failed to impress after four matches under the coach, Sunday Oliseh.
A top source close to the team revealed: “Oliseh is disappointed Emenike has not justified the confidence he has in him.
“He has been given his chance by the coach, who is now seriously considering Odion Ighalo to lead his attack against Swaziland next month.”
Unlike Emenike, Ighalo has found the back of the net twice in four months.
His first came against Chad in Kaduna in June while, he also scored in a 3-0 win over Cameroon in Brussels.
