Boko-Haram-11Boko Haram again struck yesterday in the remote village of Mairi in Borno State, killing four persons while 100 fled their homes to avoid being brutalised, sexually abused and subsequently killed.
The latest killing occurred even as President Muhammadu Buhari in far away Strasbourg, France insisted that the insurgent group has been degraded and technically defeated.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday learnt from dependable sources and an online news platform that the insurgents attacked the village in the usual fashion leaving no less than four villagers killed and scores are believed to be injured.
The village of Mairi is located in Konduga Local Government Area, LGA of Borno State.
The attack on the area took place late Friday night and resulted in many parts of the village being burned down.
Eyewitnesses report that hundreds of civilians, including children, were seen moving along the Konduga-Maiduguri road, fleeing the violence.
Senator Kaka Garbai representing Borno Central at the National Assembly, who spoke following the attack, condemned the violence and urged the military to do more to secure the lives and property of Borno State citizens.
He said, “(the terrorists) killed four people here last night. I came here to condole with the relations of the victims.”
A local vigilante, Miana Ibrahim, reported that six people were killed.
He also told our correspondent that livestock were killed and many homes were destroyed by fire.
Last weekend, Dalori village was invaded, more than 85 people were reportedly killed, and the whole village set ablaze.
