A suspected cultist who is currently being detained by Rivers State Police Command, Ikeadighim Michael Nwachukwu has said that he joined cultism because of prestige.
Nwachukwu, who recently graduated from the Department of Marketing at the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, told newsmen when he was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Hyelasinda Musa Kimo, that he was caught with a battle axe on his way to Umuahia.
He stated that he had already joined the Black Axe fraternity in Lagos before gaining admission into UNIPORT to study marketing in 2011.
“I was caught with this Axe while traveling from UNIPORT to Umuahia. The Axe is a battle Axe for cultists. I won’t deny it, I’m a cultist but I was taking this Axe home to burry it because I have graduated.
Briefing newsmen earlier, CP Kimo reiterated his stance towards combating crime in the state. According to him, within the short period that he resumed office as CP in the state, the command has recovered three AK47 rifles, one assault rifle, two locally made short guns, one pump action, three locally made pistol, one revolver pistol, two cut to size guns, 105 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, 22 cartridges, rescued three kidnap victims, arrested five armed robbery suspects, three suspected kidnappers, seven suspected cultists and recovered five assorted vehicles.
