President’s wife, Hajiya Aisha Buhari has said despite her present status, she still cooks her husband’s meal.
This is despite the fact that she has a plethora of cooks, chefs and caterers at her disposal who can cook for the First Family and the entire villa community.
She made this disclosure when she hosted children from different parts of the country in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, to a party to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration at the Banquet Hall of the State House , Abuja.
After watching some of the children engaged in dance, beauty and other competitions, Mrs. Buhari excused herself half way in course of the party, saying she needed to go home and prepare dinner for her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I’m going to leave you soon. I want to go back home to cook for my husband because my children are here playing with you. Nobody is at home, only my husband. So, I want to go back home to be with him and also cook dinner for him”, the president’s wife said.
Speaking further at the event which attracted a large number of children and their parents, the president’s wife asked the children to be thankful to God that they were here celebrating the Sallah with her, unlike many other less privileged children out there without the necessary things of life to cater for themselves.
She noted that the Sallah party organised by her, among other reasons, underscored the importance the present administration led by her husband attaches to the welfare, protection and development of Nigerian children.
She continued: “On occasions like these, we celebrate with Nigerian children, especially the less privileged, including those in the various internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) camp. We love, appreciate and share with their present situation.
“The reason for this is to promote warm interaction and sharing what we have with one another. On this note particularly, we decided to celebrate with all children from different background.”
She urged the children to be obedient to their parents, teachers and their seniors.
She also advised them to help their parents in doing household chores, even as she enjoined them to enjoy the holiday, bearing in mind that they must also read their books and avoid bad company.
“The future of this great country lies in your hands. You are to complement the efforts of government by working very hard in school and be obedient to your parents. Tomorrow you may become president, the president’s wife, Senator, honourable members, governors, medical doctors, teacher, journalist, engineer, nurse, lawyer and the rest of other honourable professions”, she added.
Aisha also urged parents to ensure that they encourage their children to work hard at home and in school by monitoring them closely.
Other children who attended the party are those from orphanages and internally displaced persons’ camp.
Also in attendance were the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate in Taraba Sate, Senator Aisha Alhassan and wife of former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Silva, among others.
