A retired civil servant and District Head of Lade Town in Pategi local government area, Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Lukpan Pategi is dead, aged 75.
The deceased, before his death, recently held the revered Nupe title of Kpotun Pategi.
He began his civil service career in 1958 as a clerical officer in the then Northern Nigeria Ministry of Health.
The late District Head who served in various capacities was at one time Secretary, Institute of Health, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, Zaria, where he retired as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer in 1988.
Reflecting on the life and times of the departed chief, one of his sons and former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Suleja, Niger State branch, Barrister Abdullahi Idris, told sympathisers at his home, that the deceased during his lifetime was ‘‘a selfless leader whose shinning legacies would continue to serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.’’
Born in 1940, Alhaji Pategi, who has since been buried on April 1 according to Islamic rites is survived by two wives, 21 children, including Abubakar Idris, a student in Michigan, USA, and many grandchildren.
