IGEDE youths under the aegis of Igede Youth Grassroots Network have expressed their support for the former senate president, David Mark, who will lock horns with Comrade Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the Benue South senatorial rerun on February 20.
President of the organisation, Comrade Ominyi Alo Moses, who led the youths on a solidarity visit to Mark at Otukpo at the weekend, said the organisation will sensitise the people to vote for Mark, whom he said has impacted positively on Igede people through appointments and scholarship to indigent students, among others.
Comrade Ominyi who said his organisation will fight Sen Mark’s cause until the desired goal is achieved, also spurned those who recently defected from PDP to APC, saying “without them we can win elections in Igede land.”
Responding, Mark promised to do more for the Igede people even though some of those he assisted have turned against him.
He mentioned Chief John Enyi, Chief Reuben Ade, Dr. Isaac Egboja among others, as Igede people who have benefitted enormously from him but later chose to lie against him.
The former Senate president promised to provide an ICT based youth centre for the youths of Igede even as he urged them not to be fooled by the lies being spread against him by political jobbers.
Mark also advised the youths to ignore external influences that are trying to deny the people the opportunity to vote who they want.
