Super Eagles and Watford striker Odion Jude Ighalo has prayed for the quick recovery of Senegal and Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba who is out with a horrific leg injury.
Demba Ba suffered a horrifying leg break after he tangled with defender Sun Xiang while chasing down a pass but came out worst as he left his leg and screamed in pains in the second half of the Shanghai derby in the Chinese Super League.
The medical team immediately ran unto the pitch and seeing his condition carried him off on a stretcher with 20 minutes left in the game and strength to the hospital.
Club manager Gregorio Manzano described the incident as “horrendous”, when he spoke to reporters after the match: “I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. God is unfair. Ba is too good to have this happen to him.”
Demba Ba who has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances this season teammates at Shanghai Shenhua eventually won the game 2-1 courtesy a late penalty from Fredy Guarin’s penalty after defender Jiajie Wang had been sent off.
The former Chelsea star is now expected to face a lengthy spell out of action with a suspected leg fracture and if it turns out a double fracture like that of Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, he could end up missing close to ten months of football.
