Immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has lampooned Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over his many overseas trips, describing them as fruitless, deceitful and mere jamborees.
In a statement issued yesterday in Owerri by his media aide, Mr Chibuike Onyeukwu, the ex- lawmaker who represented Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency, also observed with dismay the desperate attempt by Okorocha to copy certain aspects of his manifesto, christened, “Together we will rebuild Imo.”
His words, “We wish to reiterate our earlier position that Okorocha cannot attract even a toothpick to Imo State because he has no literacy of the basic rudiments of governance and management.
“I wish to challenge Okorocha again to publish the finances of the state and the benefits of his globetrotting since 2011 for public scrutiny.
“We are not unaware of the fact that Governor Okorocha secretly obtained copies of the manifesto with a view to stealing aspects of it since he does not have and could not articulate any working document for the state.”
Ihedioha, who said his manifesto was well researched by experts, recalled that he promised to undertake an aggressive investment drive both within and outside Nigeria to attract industrialists to establish factories and industries in various LGAs that have comparative advantage in the production of particular goods and services, and that is what Okorocha is copying by his globetrotting and his one community, one factory project.
On the issue of job creation, Ihedioha claimed, we said, “we shall create 274,500 Imo employers of labour in the first two years…135 manufacturing activities, localised in 27 LGs in Imo (5 per LGA)” and all that Okorocha is copying.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo proved abortive as he would neither pick his calls nor reply to a text message on the subject matter.
