Representatives, Hon. Yakubu
Dogara has promised to unite
the factions in the House in the
spirit of sportsmanship and
Dogara said he will not
preside over a divided House
and called on his colleagues
to put the nation first above
He, however, announced his
commitment to his party and his
continued support of his party’s
manifesto and programmes for
the upliftment of the country.
He also suggested that
a member from one of the
North-East states of Adamawa,
Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba
and Yobe should raise a motion
proposing an International
Conference on the rebuilding
of the region ravaged by Boko
”I want to say this, as I have
not said it before, that I want
a member from the North-
East to raise a motion for the
convocation of an International
Donor Conference for the
rebuilding of the North-East
which has been ravaged by
Boko Haram insurgency.
“My honourable brothers, I
won’t call you colleagues for
obvious reason; and the reason
is that, you are my brothers.
Politics is over and when it
comes to governance, you
must work with people that
supported you.
“But as a leader, you have to
embrace all people. What we
must do as a party is to unite
quickly and give Nigerians the
change that we have promised
our people. We have to rein in all the people
that we can rein in to provide the
change, so that we can give Buhari
that smooth operation to enable
him give Nigerians the change
that they deserve.
“We should unite on the basis
of fairness. We should not unite
based on regional basis. Or on
the basis of where the President
comes from. We are all friends,”
Dogara noted
