AHEAD of December 5 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa state, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Francis Dufugha, has reiterated his unflinching determination to liberate the people of Bayelsa State from the hands of incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson.
He said that Governor Dickson and past administrations in the state had plunged the state into poverty, shattered and unfulfilled dreams, discrimination and denials and he said it has been 19 years of underdevelopment, unemployment, youth restiveness and other vices, which has stunted the growth of the state.Dufugha, a journalist and publisher of one of the most vibrant local newspapers in the state, the Niger Delta Herald, who spoke at the formal declaration and unveiling of his gubernatorial ambition said he was ready with his group, the Grace Movement Initiative, GMI, to sack the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson from office come December 5 through the ballot.
He enumerated five key areas namely; full employment, industrialization, educational revolution, agricultural revolution and aggressive rural transformation, adding that if given the opportunity, he will guarantee a wider and better opportunity and satisfaction for Bayelsans.
He said, “the current PDP led administration has no doubt failed us. At inception in 2012, it promised to provide us adequate security but what do we get in return? An increase in sea piracy, kidnapping and cult related activities. What more? Yenagoa, the state capital we were told, would be turned into a construction yard. But with the ugly sight of rotting equipment lying at sites where jobs have since been abandoned, what shall we now call the state and Yenagoa in particular? A big junkyard.
“Bayelsans and indeed friends should be rest assured that the blueprint for total human, infrastructural and economic development of the state which we possess and do jealously guard for now, is one that every progressive minded person or group would definitely appreciate when we roll it out soon as we are voted into office.”Bauelsans to joins hands with him in rebuilding the state and make things better for the people who according to him have long been forgotten by successive administrations in the state
