Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi said his administration is working hard to put the state in the list of investor-friendly states in the country.
Umahi who stated this during the official commissioning of Ebonyi State Infrastructure Monitoring and Compliance Agency, EBIMCA, in the state noted that the idea behind the Agency was in recognition of the imperativeness of ICT innovations as the panacea for the globalisation of the contemporary society.
“While the Agency shall be entrusted with the responsibility of approving and supervising the location, position, appearance display and manner in which urban furniture shall be fixed to land and building and as well monitor the erection of parabolic and other types of antennae, mast and towers and the laying of cables within the state in the interest of health and safety”.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Prof Bernard Odo charged the Agency to maintain standard, quality and safety and called on GSM providers, telecom organisations and other corporate organs doing business in Ebonyi State to cooperate with the state government and the Agency to achieve the best for the state by observing the established standards and procedure.
In her remark, the Chief Executive Officer of VAP Ltd., Mrs. Bola Allison who acknowledged the role of Unity Bank towards the existence of the project, stated that the reason behind the setting up of a one-stop shop of all telecommunication activities was for the promotion of socio-economic well being of the people of the state.
According to her, the Commissioning of the Agency was in line with Governor Umahi’s vision of putting an end to haphazard erection of towers/masts and indiscriminate digging of lands across the state.
