Worried by the lingering leadership crisis and factionalisation rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the new executive of the party in Imo State has inaugurated an 18-man reconciliation committee to resolve the issues and reconcile the warring factions.
The committee, which has the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, Prof. Jude Ejike Njoku, as chairman, and former deputy governorship candidate, Chief Chuma Nnaji, as secretary, has the mandate to hear all sides and resolve whatever differences that exist.
Addressing newsmen after a meeting yesterday in Owerri, the state chairman of the party, Barr. Charles Babatude Ezekwem stated that the committee became inevitable to underscore the importance his team attached to bringing all members of the party on the same page again as one family.
The committee, which has no definite deadline for its assignment, is however expected to conclude the assignment before the end of the year.
He warned that the party was not prepared to allow a repeat of the mistakes of the past, stressing that a united PDP had the capacity to sweep away the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019.
