Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Imo State, Capt. David Mbamala, rtd, has enjoined Nigerians, irrespective of religion and political party affiliations to rally support for the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to enable him tackle the numerous challenges bedeviling the country.
Mbamala who said this in Owerri yesterday maintained that the country could not move further beyond her present state if nothing is urgently done to free her from the cankerworm called corruption.
According to him, Nigeria cannot make progress without fighting to submission the cankerworm called corruption and other social vices that are almost becoming part of the nation’s culture.
On the April 11, 2015 governorship election in Imo State, he described what happened during the election as a mini civil war where they were tricked on the efficacy of the card reader.
He expressed shock that the state was sandwiched by thugs as the voting ground turned to bazaar for food and money and called for total cancellation of the election and fresh conduct of a free and fair election in the state.
Insisting that he would win the guber poll if conducted in the atmosphere of freedom, Capt Mbamala asserted, “if they are not afraid of losing the election to me, let them cancel it and conduct a free and fair election under the watch of INEC national chairman.”.
“As a governorship candidate, I don’t even know my scores, my agent did not sign any document in the wards and in the state, rice and money were cooked and used to woo voters,” he alleged.
