Supporters of Kogi State governor-elect, Yahaya Bello, in the state’s east senatorial district yesterday disowned the purported endorsement of Parliament Magazine publisher, Gowon Egbunu, to as deputy to the governor-elect in today’s swearing in ceremony.

Leader of the group, Enema Paul said at a press briefing in Lokoja yesterday that there was no time they held meeting and endorsed Egbunu to be the deputy of the governor elect.

He said whoever brought the name of Egbunu up as Bello’s deputy did it on his own personal interest, not the collective decision of the leaders of Yahaya Bello Political Organisation in the eastern flank of the state.

The leaders berated one Dr. Yakubu Ugwolawo for playing on the intelligence of APC factional leaders in the area, saying he should withdraw further move on the issue to avoid being ridiculed by the group.

In a related development, Isiaka Ajibola, the head of Bello’s media organisation, said his boss hadno any other deputy since James Faleke rejected the offer.

He said the national body of APC had promised to work on his (Faleke) replacement at appropriate time, saying that today’s inauguration of Yahaya Bello as the governor of Kogi State would go ahead as the tribunal had ruled to that effect.
