An ex-militant leader, Israel Akpodoro has applauded President Muhammad Buhari and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani over the inauguration of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the transfer of the Board under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
Speaking at an enlarged meeting of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Akpodoro who is the national President of the group noted that the President Buhari with inauguration of the Board has proven his critics wrong and has shown to the people of the Niger Delta region that he is a reliable and dependable leader who does not renege on his promise to people particularly the people of the region.
He noted that in spite of the enormous challenges of development in the country as a result of the dwindling economic fortunes of the country that the President holds his developmental promises to the people dearly adding that it was not common among leaders whose words are their bonds.
Stressing further, the urhobo-born, pro Buhari die hard noted that bringing the NDDC under the direct supervision of the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs would make it function maximally with efficiency and high productivity in terms of achieving its statutory aims and objectives as an interventionist agency.
Akpodoro averred further that with Usani as the supervising minister, the people of the region were in for an era of massive development and proactive interventions in the Delta noting that gone were the days when the NDDC was supervised by an office whose occupier never stepped legs on the region’s soil let alone knowing the terrain thereby hampering efficiency.
The board as inaugurated he stated has men of reputable integrity and honour with professional aptitude especially Engr. Ejenakevwe he said was the choice of all urhobo sons and daughters and Deltans in general.
According to him, coming from the oil industry as a trust worthy technocrat, Engr. Ejenakevwe knows the immediate need of the people and will do his best to put smile on the faces of Niger Deltans using his office as the Executive Director Project, EDP. Adjogbe Ejenakevwe.
He called on all ex-militants, youth and leaders of thought in the region to rally round the new board in support for it to achieve its noble course adding that the people should rise above ethnic hate and chauvinism and give maximum support to the President Buhari led All Progressives Congress, APC administration.
