N A T I O N A L C o m m i s s i o n e r, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Muhammed Mustafa Lecky has urged all eligible voters to participate effectively in the ongoing continuous voters’ registration exercise to avoid disenfranchisement in the forthcoming elections. Muhammed Lecky who gave the advice yesterday in Asaba at the INEC office, Oshimili South local government while flagging off the Continuous Voters’ Registration Exercise emphasized that political parties should encourage their supporters to come out to register and collect their PVCs. While reiterating that the exercise would be all year round Muhammed Lecky acknowledged the hard work and dedication of all INEC Staff across the country in preparing for the exercise. According to National Commissioner, “The main objective of this event is to register new eligible voters and distribute Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs, to others who had registered before but could not collect their PVCs”. “Related to this is the update of the voters’ register to reflect transfers and deaths in accordance with Section 10 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended”, he stated. Also speaking, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta state, Mr. Baritor Kpagih assured the masses of the smooth running of the voters registration exercise in the state. He however, urged those who have attained the age of 18 and above, who have not been registered to come out to do so.
