The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to the senator-elect from Edo North senatorial district, Major Francis Alimikhena. Presenting the certificate at the INEC headquarters in Abuja yesterday, the national commissioner in charge of Edo, Dr. Ishmael Igbani congratulated Barrister Francis Alimikhena saying that power comes from God and when God says a thing, it must surely come to pass. The national commissioner urged politicians not to see power as a do or die business but to always accept the outcome of election result in the best interest of their constituency.
He however encouraged those who lost out to keep their dreams alive and not feel defeated stressing that INEC created a level playing ground for all candidates during the last elections all over the nation.
While thanking the Commission for the peaceful conduct of the just concluded elections, the Edo North senator-elect, describe his victory as a victory for the Edo North people. He called on those who lost out to stop their grudge and embrace peace. He called on them to come with their lofty ideas and opinion for them to reason together and collectively move Edo North to the next level.
“I thank God for this victory because I have failed severally in this same senatorial race. Anybody can fail an election, therefore nobody should pride himself as too big to lose out in a race whose outcome is determined by the masses,” he said.
