INEC ready to conduct rerun election in Bauchi

Arrangements for the conduct of rerun gubernatorial election for in 15 Local Government Areas of Bauchi state have been concluded.

This was disclosed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi at a stakeholders meeting held yesterday in preparation for the election coming up in some local governments.

He explained that the affected local government areas are Alkaleri, Bogoro, Darazo, Dass, Gamawa, Ganjuwa, Giade, Itasgadau, and Jama’are.

Others are Katagum, Kirfi, Misau, Ningi, Shira and Toro while that of Kirfi rerun will include the state assembly election.

According to him, the re-run election would be conducted in 26 Registration Areas and 36 polling units.

Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi said the Commission will this Friday begin inspection and distribution of sensitive election materials stored in the state branch of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN in presence of all stakeholders.

On the issue of the disputed Tafawa Balewa local government’s result, the Commissioner said the matter is before the Court and that the Commission will only act after the Court verdict.
