Secretary of Transport Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Kayode Opeifa has disclosed that he will hold a two days sensitisation campaign to tackle the issue of security and illegal operations within the transport sector.
He made this disclosure while on a courtesy visit to the National President of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, at its headquarters in Garki, Abuja.
Opeife stressed that the government would not take it lightly with those coming to cause problems for others in the public transport sector and the general public as a whole.
In his words “As a major operator in FCT, the NURTW remains a critical stakeholder in the quest to reposition public transportation system in FCT.
“We should be able to make Union members millionaires, by helping them to develop their businesses to an advanced level” he stated.
Furthermore, he restated the FCT Administration’s resolve to empower transporters by making the environment more conducive for business. Adding that the government looks inward to quickly reposition transportation services in the nation’s capital.
He thereby pleaded for the support of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in other for him to accomplish its ambition.
Meanwhile, the National President of NURTW commended the FCT Transport Secretary for deeming it fit to visit the Union, and pledged their readiness to ensure he succeeds in office.
Furthermore, he reassured the government of its support, in order to attain the commendable transport objectives in the FCT.
