Rivers State deputy governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo said the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike had concluded arrangement to procure a brand new surveillance aircraft that would address security issues in the state.
Dr. Banigo stated this when she paid a courtesy visit on the Abonnema Council of Chiefs and Elders in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of the state, shortly after attending the thanksgiving ceremony of the former Minister of Sports at Abonnema, Rivers State.
Dr. Banigo noted that government decided to equip relevant security operatives in the state to aid them in combating criminality and other related vices.
“The light has come and we are putting in place all the needed equipment that will help rid our state of crime. The Governor Wike-led administration is concerned about the security of its people. So I want to reassure you of our commitment to fight crime to a standstill,” she stated.
She expressed gratitude to the king of Abonnema and his council of chiefs and elders for their prayers and royal blessings during the electioneering period, assuring them of relaying their request to the governor.
Earlier, the Amayanabo of Abonnema, king Israel Bob-Manuel expressed delight on the promulgation of the Chieftaincy Act of Rivers State, describing it as a laudable action that had brought about peace in the area and appealed to the state government to look into the issue of security challenge on the water ways in the area.
