The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CILT has bestowed the prestigious honour of Fellow on the Acting General Manager of Nigerian Ports Authority, Eastern Zone, Mr. Dele Alabi.
Mr. Alabi became a student member of the Chartered Institute of Transport in February 1980, and completed the Institute’s professional module in 1987.
He served as Zonal Chairman of CILT, Tin Can Island Port, Lagos, in 2004 to 2006 and Member of the National Council in 2012 to 2013.
Mr. Alabi has achieved three decades of meritorious service to the nation in Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA. He rose from the position of Traffic Officer 11 in 1982 to become the present Acting General Manager, Eastern Ports.
He served as Port Manager, Rivers Ports, and Port Harcourt for over five years, and also as Assistant General Manager, Operations, Eastern Zone.
A vastly trained general management officer in NPA and widely travelled, Mr. Alabi gained experience on the job in more than twenty countries of the world. He visited seaports around the globe, including those in China, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Switzerland, Italy, the Gambia, Guinea, Swaziland, South Africa, and others.
As part of his chequered services record, he was continuously appointed as Anglophone rapporteur for the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa, PMAWCA from 1997 to 2003.
Mr. Alabi graduated in 1981 at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University with a Bachelor of Science Degree Geography and served his National Youth Services, NYSC in Cross River State from 1981 to 1982.
He bagged his M.S.C Degree in Transport Management at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law from the Lagos State University.
Mr. Oladele Lawrence Alabi, F.C.I.L.T was born in Ile-Ife , Osun State on August 16,1956 to Mr. Titus Komolafe Alabi and Mrs Victoria Bolaji Alabi. Both Parents hail from Esun and Oke –Ayedun, Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State, first among four surviving siblings of his parents.
He attended saint Philips Anglican Primary School, Ilaro, Ile-Ife, Saint David’s Secondary Modern School, Ile-Ife, and Saint Peters Teacher Training College, Akure, Ondo State, before proceeding for his tertiary education.
Mr. Dele Alabi is an Elder of the Church in Christ Apostolic Church, Mile 3 Port Harcourt, and a member of Ijaiye Ojokoro Dynamic Club, Lagos.
He is Married to Mrs. Funmilola Alabi, and blessed with three Children.
