HOUSE of Representatives
yesterday called on the Federal
Government to immediately
commence reconstruction and
rehabilitation of communities
which had been recently
confirmed liberated by the
Nigerian military through the
Victim Support Fund, VSF,
Presidential Initiative for North
East, PINE and the National
Emergency Management
Agency, NEMA.
The motion titled:
‘Motion On The Need To
Commence Reconstruction
And Rehabilitation Of The
Communities Under Insurgents
Which Are Fully Recaptured
And Liberated By the
Military’ was moved by Hon.
Abdulrahman Terab.
Terab noted that the internally
displaced camps, IDPs were over
stretched, thus facing challenges
of space and resources.
According to him, “ Most of
the internally displaced persons
whose communities have been
fully liberated are physically
and psychologically desirous
and determined to return to
their liberated communities
in order to free up the camps
and allow more space for some
incoming IDPs that are recently
being rescued.
Terab, representing Bama/
Ngala/ Kala Balge Federal
Constituency of Borno State,
explained that the return of
IDPs back to their communities
should be supported by basic
infrastructure and rehabilitation
as captured in the 2015 budget.
He emphasised that the
various funding arrangements
such as the Victims Support
Fund, VSF and the Presidential
Initiative for the North East,
PINE had provided for such
reconstruction and rehabilitation
to take place in these liberated
