Nigerian women Table Tennis team are currently at the risk of facing demotion after they failed to make it to the ongoing World Championship in Kuala Lumpur over the inability of Nigerian government to fund their trip to Malaysia.
Their male counterpart including the trio of Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri and Bode Abiodun had to sponsor themselves to be part of the championship.
Quadric had in an interview with Nigerian Pilot Sports disclosed that they have always been using their personal monies to represent Nigeria in several international event, a situation he described as shameful especially in the wake of the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It would be recalled that compatriot Toriola personally made his way to the just concluded 2016 Olympic qualifiers where he eventually got the ticket to feature at Rio De Janeiro when this years Olympic games get underway in Brazil.
The Nigeria men’s team currently in Malaysia have proved impressive so far with victories over Turkey and their other opponents.
