Governor Aminu Tambuwal Sokoto state at the weekend said that his administration decided not to meddle in the selection of the principal officers of
the state House of Assembly because of its resolve to have a harmonious working relationship with the legislative arm of government.
The governor who spoke when he received members of the state Assembly led by its Speaker, Hon Salihu Maidaji, in Sokoto, stressed that his administration would encourage and support the new leadership to achieve its set objectives.
He commended the members for the orderly manner they conducted their affairs on the first day of sitting and urged the new leaders to work for the unity, stability and progress of the state at all times.
“You should join hands together to make laws that will lead to the progress and development of Sokoto State,” he admonished.
Tambuwal assured members of the state legislature that he would use his experience as a former lawmaker in enthroning a smooth working relationship between the executive and other arms of government in the state. In his remark, Maidaji commended Tambuwal for his role in the promotion of the ethos of the legislature.
There are speculations already that new House leadership is not in favour of the immediate past governor of the state, Aliyu Wammako.
