As the nominees for the Ministerial portfolio appears before the Senate today, Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani said he has no reasons to kick against the nominee from Kaduna, Amina Mohammed if she is morally upright and meets the constitutional requirements.
Shehu Sani stated this while speaking to newsmen shortly after flagging of empowerment programme for about 3,400 women in Kaduna yesterday.
He said no ministerial nominee should be afraid of screening if they don’t have any skeleton in their cupboard.
According to him, “whoever is going to serve as a Minister must be above the board, must be a man or woman of character and morals. Must be one who is fit to represent Nigeria. To be current of change of the present administration.
“They have been screened by the Security agents, maybe by the Executive arm. It is now the parliamentary screening to hear from those who will be representing them at Ministerial level and ask questions that are relevant to the Nation.
“There is a need for meticulous training for who is going to be a minister.
“When you don’t have skeleton in your cupboard, you have nothing to fear before the senate.
“As long as Amina Mohammed meets all the necessary requirements, she will scale through the senate screening,” Shehu Sani said.
Earlier, Senator Shehu Sani said he is spending a whooping sum of N17.5million to empower 3400 women in various skills acquisition in Kaduna.
He said each of the 7 Local government that made up his Senatorial district were to get N2.5million for the skill acquisition programme.
The women were selected from Kaduna north, Kaduna south, Chikun, Igabi, Kajuru, Giwa and Birnin Gwari local government areas of the Kaduna Central Senatorial district.
Sani who described the empowerment as his own personal intervention and contribution towards eliminating poverty said the women are to acquire skills in Soap making, knitting, tailoring, fishery, perfumery among other women related skills that will better their lives and those of their families.
One of the beneficiaries, Hajia Aisha Abubakar commended Senator Sani while calling on others to emulate the kind gesture.
