Ebonyi state Governor, Chief Martin Elechi has said he has no regrets for the actions and decisions he took within the eight years he has been on the saddle as the Governor of the state.
Elechi observed that though he was bashed with both positive and negative criticisms and commendation within the period, he found within himself, no area he made mistakes in decisions and actions; maintaining that if such circumstances should present themselves again, he would do the same.
The Governor was speaking during the valedictory press conference held at Abakaliki International conference centre.
Elechi who likened himself to a dancer, insisted that as a dancer on the stage, he cannot know the movement of his waist; rather, it was only the onlookers that could explain the movement of his waist.
He said, “We have been criticized and commended. I do not regret anything for sure. If such circumstance should present themselves again, I will do the same.
“One of the founding fathers told me during one of our meetings that; ‘…you made so many mistakes but your positive side outweighs your negative side…’, and I asked him to mention the areas where I made mistakes because I did not know what I did wrong. All I did was done based on my perception of the situation.
“Yesterday, during the valedictory section with Members of my executive, one of them said that a Traditional Ruler once said that the only thing people have not accused him of, is that he is pregnant. There is nothing I have not been accused of, but where are the facts”.
He explained that he was not worried that he did not complete all his projects, as according to him, government is a continuum.
“I did not see anything bad in uncompleted projects, governance is a continuum. We should aim at doing what is necessary. The important thing is what is worth doing is worth doing fine. There are so many projects you start with and complete it the way you think just as there are others you may start and you may not complete as envisaged”.
