Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Barrister Simon Lalong yesterday described President Goodluck Jonathan as a true democrat for conceding defeat to the president elect, General Mohammadu Buhari.
Lalong also described Jonathan as a true democrat and called on politicians to emulate him.
Addressing newsmen yesterday at the NUJ press centre, Lalong said this was an indication that the continued unity of this country was not negotiable.
He said: “I want to thank the people of Plateau State for accepting to be part of the historic process that made change possible.
“I commend all of you for coming out en masse to elect the President elect, Senators, and Members of the house of Representatives from their various constituencies across Plateau.”
On the Plateau North senatorial elections, Lalong said the party would exhaust all legal process to ensure that their stolen mandate was returned to the party.
“I wish to assure Plateau civil servants who have become the victims of intimidation and denial of salaries as a result of their expressed desire for change to know that your sufferings will never be in vain and shall soon be over.
“In Plateau State, the battle is far from being over as we still have a great task ahead of us to dismantle finally the remaining threats posed by the few agents of impunity and their un-quenching desires to impose on us their surrogates who want to take us back to the dark days and entrap us in the dolddrums of political opposition.”
He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for introducing the card reader, calling for its usage in the forthcoming governorship elections.
Lalong also said if elected his administration would alleviate the sufferings of Plateau people by providing free education, functional health facilities, a beneficial agricultural policy, commerce and industry, youth employment and above all, peace and security.
