President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mr. Bassey Okon Akpanyung as Secretary to National Planning Commission, NPC.
Mr Akpanyung has been the Acting Secretary to the Commission since October 2014. He joined the service of the NPC in 1982 as Planning Officer Grade II and rose to the position of a Director in the Commission. He had served the Commission in almost all the professional departments.
The appointment, conveyed via a letter dated 27th of April, 2015, was signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, and took effect from 14th of April, 2014.
It reads: “ I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, has approved your appointment as Secretary, National Planning Commission for a first tenure of five (5) years in accordance with Sections 6 (1) and 8 (1) of the National Planning Commission Act, 1993.”
Mr Akpanyung holds a Bachelor of Science degree of the University of Ibadan in 1991, and a Master of Arts Degree in Economic Development and Planning, IDEP, Dakar – Senegal in 1993.
