People Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain and an aspirant for the Deputy National Chairmanship position of the party for the South in the forthcoming convention, Barr George Turnah has dismissed allegations of former President Goodluck Jonathan sponsoring militants and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta .
Turnah made the dismissal in Abuja after accepting to contest for the position of the PDP’s Deputy National Chairman, South.
The aspirant, who fielded questions from journalists on the allegation sponsoring the militant group by the former president, stated that Nigerians should be more engaged on how to solve problems and dwell less on who is causing the problem.
“ Well, l don’t know what group you are referring to but if it is the issue in the Niger Delta and you want to talk about MEND coming out to say somethings, as journalists l will like to remind you that if you go through you archives you will find stories you have carried that MEND is dead‎.
“We are in this country and we have critical issues to resolve – security challenges in the Niger Delta, security issues in North East, in the West we have problems, in the north we have problems – we should rather look at ways of coming together to resolving these crises rather than escalating them.
“In Boko Haram era we had names of people who were associated with its sponsorship. These things don’t get us anywhere. I know that when you make allegations you also take steps further to defend them. You don’t make allegation as weighty as the one you are referring to and you feel that was all”.
On the problem in the PDP, he explained that it would be resolved amicably within a short time. According to him, it would be resolved not by the instrumentality of the law but by appeals to stakeholders.
