A stakeholder in the hospitality industry, General Manager, Hill Station Hotel Limited, Jos Mrs. Best Mildred, yesterday said that hotels are still experiencing a drop in business activities following the crisis that engulfed some parts of the state.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday, Best said patronage is at its lowest with few or no customers coming to the hotel in recent times.
“We are finding it difficult to pay salaries of staff because of this,” she said.
“Hotel business is completely dead in Jos. As you can see, the hotel is empty. Only few people occasionally come around and this is not good for the business as we have not been able to pay our retiree and staff in a long time.”
The hotel was yesterday closed down following an industrial court order directing the hotel to pay its retirees and workers their benefits.
The retirees had earlier instituted an action against the management of the hotel for their severance benefits, which were due but unpaid.
