FORMER Vanguard
correspondent in Kaduna,
Luka Binniyat on Thursday
met all the bail conditions
and was n  released.
He gained his freedom at
exactly 1:45pm, three days
after he was granted bail
due to protocol.
Binniyat has been
reunited with his family
amidst jubilation after
over three months
incarceration over a news
report he anchored and
published in vanguard.
Chairman of the Kaduna
State council of Nigeria
Union Journalists,
Comrade Adamu Yusuf
in a statement noted that
“on behalf of NUJ Kaduna
Council I will like to
appreciate all those that
contributed in one way or
the other to see that Luka
Binniyat is out of prison.”
Those at the prison
included Barrister James
Kanyip, his defence
lawyer, chairman NUJ
Kaduna, Adamu Yusuf
who is also the third surety,
his brother, Barrister
Binniyat Thomas, the
two other sureties among
He was in prison for
about 96 days and had
been appearing in court
before his bail was
perfected, after a review
of the bail conditions on
Monday, October 9, 2017.
