In strict compliance with company policies, many staff of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, were yesterday denied entry into the premises of the company for lateness.
It was learnt that the Managing Director of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, stood at the company’s security gate and stopped the affected personnel.
Previously, due to reports of late resumption of staff, the company introduced a biometric clocking machine system.
In a statement by the Communications Coordinator in the company, Mohammed Kandi said as part of measures to address the situation the KEDCO boss who had ordered closure of the gate, expressed his worries about the rate lateness of staff.
“He came into the company premises shortly before 8am and observed that the building was scanty at that moment and immediately after 8am, he directed that the gate be locked,” it said.
“The MD had also remained at the gate to ensure that those who could not beat the 8am timelineput their names down,” he stated.
According to the statement, “before the recent development, the management of the company was deducting some amount of money from salaries of latecomers but that did not really addressed the situation.”
