Kano State government has launched a biometric time and attendance machine for monitoring workers punctuality in their various places of work.
This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Mustapha Fagge, the public relations officer in the office of the Head of Service.
According to the statement, made available to NAN in Kano yesterday, the machine was introduced to also check lateness and absenteeism among civil servants in the state.
While performing the official test-run of the machine in his office, the Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Naiya, expressed government’s serious concern over workers’ nonchalant attitude to work, the statement said.
“This is what informed the decision of the Kano State Government to establish ‘Servicom,’” the statement said.
It said the installation of the machine was the first of its kind in the history of the state and appealed to civil servants to imbibe the culture of reporting to work at the stipulated time and close as scheduled.
It also appealed to workers to continue to exhibit the spirit of good conduct and dedication to duty to enable them to excel in their respective careers.
