Senator-elect of Ogun East senatorial district, Prince Buruji Kashamu has congratulated former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, over the successful outing of the party at the just concluded elections.
In separate congratulatory messages sent to Tinubu and Governor Amosun of Ogun State, Kashamu eulogised the achievements of both Obasanjo and Tinubu in the political scene.
In the message dated April 13, 2015, to Amosun, Kashamu, a staunch critic of Obasanjo, congratulated the former president for having worked harder for the re-election of Governor Amosun.
In the letter to Tinubu, the senator-elect said the achievement of the former governor of Lagos State transcended political divides and he (Kashamu) was not ashamed to publicly acknowledge their achievements, adding that Tinubu’s place in history of Yoruba race and Nigeria in general was well etched.
According to him, the fanatical support enjoyed by the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, was matched with Tinubu’s commanding influence in the politics of South West and Yoruba race.
He said, “There is no denying the fact that your place in the history of Yoruba race in particular, and Nigeria in general, is well etched. Although I now belong to the opposition, your achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them.
“You are the real architect of modern Nigeria and a big masquerade behind the ‘wind of change’ that has just blown across our fatherland.
“The fanatical support that the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) enjoys in his homestead was matched with your commanding influence in the politics of South West and indeed the Yoruba race to produce the results that we witnessed during the elections.
“By your sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, true federalism and economic prosperity, you led the Alliance for Democracy, AD, from a one-state party to a regional party, and now a national party that is about to form the government at the centre.”
Kashamu in his letter to Amosun also averred: “I also wish to congratulate ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for their support for you.”
