Katsina State Government has honoured seven batch ‘C’ members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for their contribution to the development of the state.
They were presented with certificates and an undisclosed amount of money.
At the passing out ceremony for Batch C 2014 corps members yesterday, Governor Aminu Bello Masari said the corps members executed different projects through community development programmes.
Masari, represented by the Special Adviser on Youth Development, Ibrahim Khalil, said the honour was done to show the appreciation of the state government.
He said his administration would continue to encourage corps members, who have the zeal and determination, to leave footprints in their places of primary assignment.
Masari called on other corps members to execute community development based projects in their host communities so that at the end of their service year, their names would be written in gold.
He assured the NYSC management that his door would always be open on issues regarding the scheme.
Earlier, the state NYSC coordinator, Mairo Jummai Mohammed, said NYSC was proud of the seven corps members in view of their community development projects.
Jummai said most corps members were diligent, disciplined, dedicated and patriotic in the course of discharging their duties.
She said NYSC received many commendation letters from corps members employers and other stakeholders.
