Katsian State Government owed road contractors over N7 billion, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has said.
Masari who spoke while inspecting on-going construction of Dandume Kaadisan –Daudawa –Sheme road over the last weekend said government had commenced verification of the liability to ascertain its authenticity.
Masari said the inspection of the 32 kilometre road was part of the verification exercise to ensure contractors abide with contract specifications.
‘We inspect on-going and completed road projects awarded by immediate past administration before releasing fund to constractors” he said.
“The inspection visit will assist government to assess the level of the work done on the road and its quality “
Masari directed contractors who withdrew their worker from sites to resume work and ensure completion of the road projects as scheduled.
Masari commended the contractor handling Dandume- Kaadisan-Danudawa road for the quality work.
Earlier, Managing Director of constructing firm, Triacta, Mr. Ellie. A. Farhat assured that the road project will be completed by November this year.
Mr. Farhat called for the release of fund by state government as part of contract agreement.
