Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr Zainab Atiku Bagudu has welcome the first baby born in the state with a scholarship among other gift items which were presented to the child at birth.
According to a press release sent to Nigerian Pilot yesterday, the baby girl which weighed 3.5kg was delivered at exactly 12:30am by Malama Asma’u of Gwadangaji at Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.
Dr Bagudu, who instantly gave the newborn scholarship up to university level, also presented food, clothing for mother and baby as well as money to the family.
The governor’s wife thanked God for the baby’s safe delivery and urged mothers in the state to ensure regular attendance at ante natal clinics to help reduce the high maternal mortality rate in the state.
Responding, the mother of the baby, Malama Asmau thanked the governor’s wife for her gesture and assured the first lady that she will take good care of the baby. She also commended the staff of the hospital for their attention and affection shown to her and the new born baby.
