Chairman of the Abia Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Justice Usman Bwala, has advised petitioners and their counsels to keep their distance from members of the Tribunal.
Justice Bwala gave the advice at the tribunal’s inaugural sitting at the Abia State High Court 4, Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia.
He said they would be guided strictly by the principles of justice in the discharge of their duties and urged counsels to avoid frivolous petitions and motions capable of delaying the process.
Justice Bwala also assured that they were not going to make any mistakes.
Meanwhile, the tribunal has granted the prayer of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA,in the 2015 election, Dr Alex Otti, to inspect the materials used in the election.
The tribunal also granted Otti leave to serve the first Respondent, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the Governor-elect, by substituted means.
Justice Usman Bwala said the inspection should be conducted on the 27th, 28th and 30th May 2015, under the supervision of the police and SSS at the INEC state office.
