Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of zone 7, Ballah Nasarawa said that three of the kidnappers allegedly linked to the abduction of some pastors in the State have been arrested.
The three pastors were abducted while clearing the ground for a crusade in Kaduna. However, two prominent pastors, Reverand Emmanuel Dzzigau, president of HEKAN Church in Nigeria and his vice, Reverand Yakubu Dzarma, kidnapped on 21 March, 2016 in Kaduna State were freed. however, one pastor, Anthony Anto who had been sick was found dead in the forest, a development that brought a mixture of joy and sadness to the members of the Church.
The clerics who were collected in a forest along Kaduna-Abuja expressway were admitted in a clinic undergoing medical check -up.
This was as the Police authorities in Kaduna have vowed to root out kidnappers and other criminals operating in the State.
Nasarawa said that no state of emergency has been declared by the police in the state, saying that the earlier report was the handiwork of rumour mongers.
Addressing journalists yesterday, on the reason why he had relocated to Kaduna the Police AIG said, “the Inspector General of Police with the Police management team are disturbed about reports about the security situation in Kaduna State.
“This is why the IGP dispatched me as the AIG in charge of zone 7, comprising of the FCT, Niger and Kaduna States Police Commands to come and assess the situation and address the identified issues”.
Highlighting the security situation in the State, Nasarawa said that “ the situation is not as bad as being painted by various sources, these reports have been over bloated”.
“We agree that there were some cases of murders and kidnapping of recent in the state, but they are not insurmountable. Indeed the few reported cases are still being investigated and many arrests have effected, while the suspects are being interrogated wind would soon be charged to court”.
The Police Chief also remarked that since his arrival in Kaduna a security network has been established to deal with criminals in the State.
“I have made insightful contacts within the State Police Command Structure, including our intelligence outfit and external sources, being a former commissioner of Police here, and we have acquired actionable intelligence which we have started activating, with a view of ensuring that we get rid of all criminal elements that are terrorists the peace loving people of the State.
“Within a few days, we shall dominate the security environment, tinker slightly and positively too, with the security architecture of the State, all aimed at securing and sustaining the security space. Some minor inconveniences may be felt in the short term, but this is going to be in the interest of the people and we shall respect their fundamental human rights”.
Nasarawa commended the Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for supporting the Police in fighting criminals in the State, and called for more collaboration of government with the security agents.
