Yahaya-Bello-400x280Three-man panel of the Kogi Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja has relocated to Abuja for further proceedings.
Mr Akanji Akinlabi, secretary of the tribunal, confirmed the relocation in Lokoja on Friday, saying that the directive was from the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkashua.
Akinlabi added that the panel and its secretariat had up till Monday, next week, to complete its relocation in line with the directive, stressing that reasons for the movement were not made known to him.
It could be recalled that the tribunal with Justice Halima Mohammed as chairman, Justice Patricia Ajoku and Justice Ogbogo Ejembi as members commenced sitting in Lokoja on January 11, with six petitions before it.
The petitions were filed by Representative James Faleke, running mate to the late Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate against INEC.
Other petitioners whose petitions are pending at the tribunal are Capt. Idris Wada; Labour Party, Progressive Peoples’ Alliance, PPA; the African Democratic Congress, ADC and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
All the petitions are challenging the return of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as winner of the November 21, governorship election and December 5, supplementary election in the state.
