Kwara House of Assembly has confirmed 10 commissioner nominees presented to it by the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad announced the confirmation of all the nominees at a plenary after the screening of the nominees which lasted for over four hours.
The confirmed nominees are Alhaji Musa Yeketi from Asa Local Government Alhaji Idris Garba – Baruteen, Otunba Taiwo- Joseph – Ekiti, Aro Yahaya -Ifelodu and Alhaji. Abdulrazaq Akorede – Ilorin East.
Others are; Ayo Bolakale -Ilorin West, Kamaldeen Ajibade – Ilorin
West, Ademola Banu – Irepodun, Alhaja Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe – Offa and Hajia Funmilayo Isiaka-Oniwa, the only female among them from Moro.
The screening which lasted for over four hours was critically conducted and the lawmakers unanimously supported and confirmed the nominees as commissioners in the state.
The Speaker, after confirmation directed the Clerk to communicate the confirmation of the nominees to the governor.
The 10 nominees hail from nine local government areas out of the 16 local government areas of the state.
Expectedly, the premises of the Assembly was besieged by several relations, friends and well wishers of the nominees.
It was celebration galore after the confirmation as several drummers entertained the people.
Also during Tuesday plenary, the House approved the request of Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed to secure N10 billion loan from two Commercial Banks in llorin to finance developmental projects in the state.
The House gave the approval after adopting a motion moved by the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke.
The governor in his message read by the Speaker said the Central Bank of Nigeria had approved the loan to complete infrastructural projects across the 16 local government areas of the state.
