An Ebute-metta Chief Magistrate Court, Lagos, yesterday, admitted bail to Adeyanju Kilani, owner of the truck whose container fell and killed three people at Ojuelegba on September 2, in the sum of N250,000 after two subsequent adjournments.
The court was presided over by Chief Magistrate Folashade Botoku.
However, the truck driver, Wasiu Adeleke, was remanded in prison, pending when the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, issues an advice on the multiple manslaughter charges leveled against him.
Consequently, the matter was adjourned to November 18.
The truck owner, Kilani, 50, is facing trial on a two-count charge bordering on permitting his driver, one Wasiu Adeleke, to drive without a valid driver’s license, MOT test and road worthiness certificate.
The prosecutor, G.O. Osuyi, said the offences were committed on September 2, on Ojuelegba Bridge along Funsho Williams Avenue, Lagos.
The truck driver was charged before the same court on Septembee 11, on an 11-count charge bordering on reckless driving and multiple manslaughter.
