Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, has said his administration would explore all avenue to provide dividends of democracy to the People of the state, stressing that the All Progressive Congress led government in the state is determined to provide the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
He stated this during the swearing in ceremony of two new Special Advisers at the government house Jos.
Lalong while speaking at the occasion said, “Today’s set of Advisers have been chosen out of the thousands of qualified sons and daughters of the State, who have served meritoriously in their various professional callings and have contributed immensely to the emergence of the Rescue Administration in the state “.
“Let me therefore; congratulate Mrs. Felicia Yakzum and Mr. Irmiya Sauni Werr for being found worthy of this appointment and for availing themselves to be part of the Rescue Team”.
“I want you to see this appointment as a further call to write your names in gold, as you contribute to the smooth running of government in the state “. Being a part of the rebuilding of the lost glory of Plateau State demands that, you consciously initiate backstage consultation with all relevant groups and stakeholders within the scope of your designated advisory services, so you can guide me and Government, on the quick fixes that will touch positively the lives of our people, especially now that we are working hard to get out of our economic recession”.
“The Rescue Administration on assumption of Office, identified five key areas of policy interventions, all aimed at building a new socio-economic and political compact that will create jobs to jobless youths, alleviate poverty and reduce to the barest minimum, every potential of violent conflicts in our state. We are steadily achieving on this and would need to within our diversified options, aggressively pursue our economic recovery for the greater good of our people”.
“Your coming on board at this critical time must see you joining hands with other appointees already on board, for the realisation of these five policy thrust of the APC government “.
“As I mentioned on the day I was sworn-in, the first batch of Special Advisers, let me repeat again that because you’re coming on board more than a year after our assumption of office, due to economic circumstances beyond our control, will demand that you come up to speed with the activities of government with alacrity. You must have it behind your mind, that your conduct and performance must reflect your sensitivity, to the yearnings and the expectations of the people; giving true witness to the character of your person, and the adjudged competence, which informed your choice from among many other equally competent Plateau citizens “.
“You therefore must strive to be incorruptible, as this government has zero tolerant for corruption; this I know is achievable, as you maintain the highest work ethics, anchored on professionalism, discipline and responsible management of resources “.
Lalong also called on citizens of the state to support his administration “I implore you all to keep an abiding faith, with the sincerity of our government to make Plateau better “.”We have proved our sincerity to keep to the promises we made, with the interventions we have made in the educational sector, judiciary, re-organisation of the civil service, the re-invigoration of the agricultural sector, the revitalisation of moribund industries and above all, the attainment of an environment of peace, cohesiveness and harmonious working communities. All these are clear pointers to the destination we have in sight and journeying towards, as a people oriented government “
“The times are no doubt hard but like the saying goes, “Tough time don’t last forever, and when the times gets tough, tough people get going”. Together we will get over our current challenges into our seasons of prosperity “. The signals are clear and things are getting better; I have no doubt about it, and so all I ask of our citizens is for patience and prayers for our leadership to remain accountable to conscience and the people “.he further said.
