BIRTH: Mrs. Blessing Ihudiya Nwadiuto Ogbonnaya was born in 1950 to the family of late Mr. Azubuine of Umuonyekwere Village in Abam Ubakala, Umuahia South L.G.A. as the last child among 7 children of her parents and was loved and cherished by all.

EDUCATION: Mama had her primary school at LA Primary School, Abam, from 1958 to 1963 and followed her uncle who based at Lagos to continue with her secondary education, which was disrupted by the civil war that took the life of her uncle. As a result of that, she came back and joined the Red Cross Society and help so many people in Ubakala and its environs. After the war, Mama continued her secondary education at St. Anthony’s Secondary Commercial School, Ubakala, through which she also helped her mother in her trade in the village.

MARITAL LIFE: In January 1971, Mama got married to late Chief Ogbonnaya Ogbuwa Njoku, who caught her as she came on holiday to her immediate elder brother who lived in Umuahia town; both loved themselves so much and the marriage was blessed with four boys and two girls. Mama was a strong support to her husband for the upbringing of their children through her various trades.

CHRISTIAN LIFE: Mama was a devoted Christian and a confirmed member of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. Mama was a chorister in the St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church Choir, 17 Abiriba Street, Umuahia. She was also a member of the Women’s Guild and a preacher of the gospel.

DEATH: Mama passed away on 17th October at Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi.

Mama, you have gone so soon but you have been everything good to us. May God have your soul rest in his bosom until we meet to part no more.
