Indications emerged yesterday that Senator Heineken Lokpobiri remained a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is contrary to speculations last month that he, had with the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Bayelsa State, retired Colonel Sam Inokoba; the former director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Timi Alaibe; and over 1,100 Party leaders allegedly, left the PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
But, the chairman of his PDP ward, Ward 8, Oporomo 3 of Ekereemor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Paris Sunuma told our correspondent on telephone that Lokpobiri remains a card carrying member of the party.
Sunuma said:”I also read the report in the newspapers. But I have the list of members of my party and Distinguished Senator Lokpobiri is on that list. He has not returned his membership card.”
Asked if he had contacted him to confirm if he (Lokpobiri) was still with the party, he replied, “You go and ask him. I have told you that he is a member of the PDP in my ward. If you are in doubt ask him.”
When confronted with the fact that Sunuma said he was still in the party, Lokpobiri did not deny the claim.
