One Segun Owonifari on Friday approached an Akure Customary Court seeking the dissolution of his 21-year-old marriage to his wife, Celina, over her refusal to have sex with him and nagging attitude.
Owonifari claimed that his wife had turned herself to trouble maker and had also become cunning, saying he could no longer trust her.
The plaintiff also alleged that the defendant had turned his children against him, having poisoned their minds with false allegations.
However, the wife denied all the allegations, saying it was her husband who refused to fulfill his marital responsibilities that would ensure peace in their home.
In her submission the court’s president, Mrs Dorcas Olawumi, urged the couple to invite elders of their family to intervene in the feud for the sake of their children.
Olawunmi counseled the couple on overcoming the challenges of marriage, saying any union between two people could not be without issues; but that challenges could be overcome if the two worked out their differences.
She, therefore, adjourned the case until Aug. 24 and instructed them to bring two witnesses each.
